One key, every lock on the door
Multi-lock sets for residential front entrance doors, keyed alike so one key opens every lock on the door, with registered keys that cannot be copied without permission.
Which standard you need is decided by the door, not by preference.
A flat entrance door on an escape route generally needs BS 8621 with a thumbturn, so a resident can get out without hunting for a key. A house front door may be insured on the basis of BS 3621. Where those two requirements meet on one leaf, ring us before anything is ordered.
The sets
One, two or three locks- One lock set
- Fits to the top, middle or bottom of the door. BS 8621, with a thumbturn inside for easy exit. ABS Avocet three star kitemarked cylinder with three keys. Registered keys, which cannot be copied without permission. Snib button to hold the deadbolt back temporarily. Ten year warranty.
- Two lock set
- One BS 8621 automatic deadbolt lock at the top, one BS 3621 kitemarked manual deadbolt lock at the bottom. Keyed alike, so one key opens both. ABS three star kitemarked cylinders with three keys. Registered keys. Snib button. Insurance compliant, with a ten year warranty.
- Three lock set
- BS 8621 automatic deadbolt at the top, BS 3621 kitemarked manual deadbolt at the centre, BS 8621 automatic deadbolt at the bottom. Keyed alike, one key opens all three. ABS three star kitemarked cylinder with three keys. Drill resistant lock cases and saw resistant deadbolts. Insurance compliant, with a ten year warranty.
The thumbturn is the whole argument.
BS 8621 puts one on the inside face, so a resident leaves without hunting for a key. That single item is why a flat entrance door on an escape route is specified differently from a house front door, and it is decided by the escape route rather than by the buyer.
